EA Germany: FIFA 10 Tournament
www.fifainformer.com

The first internal FIFA 10 Tournament has been held at the EA Sports Bar in Cologne. It was a huge success and FIFA Informer had the chance to play against some stiff competition in this local tournament.

18 people played their heart out for the Grand Prize: 30 litres of beer at the offices of EA Germany! FIFA Informer contestant; Klaus Ganer was well prepared to take on the mighty workers at EA Cologne. He had been drawn into a tough group with Tim Voelkel, Sam Parastar, Heiko Ellinger and Janis Kitzhofer. Klaus got demolished with the German national team against Sam Parastar´s England. Theo Walcott had an easy day at work against the slow paced Westermann.

With the the huge loss in the first game it was time to change tactics and TEAM. Out with Germany and in with the Classic XI vs. Real Madrid. With only 10 old timers on the pitch Klaus managed to keep a clean sheet against Tim Voelkel's Spanish Armada. Next up was Heiko Ellinger´s Bayern München and Klaus now played with Chelsea. Former Bayern star Ballack made it easy for the London team in a 3-1 victory.

Final game in the group stages was a game against Janis Kitzhofer. Klaus needed a huge win to advance to the final round. After the final whistle the score was 6-1 and Klaus was set for the Quarter Finals against Bright Future´s Community Manager, Sören Stöß. Once again Chelsea had to face Bayern München, but this time the German machine steam rolled Chelsea.
Sören Stöß won 3rd price after a tough game against David Neuman.

The favourite, Claudio Steffen, with France faced Ralf Anheier's Spain in the final of the first FIFA 10 tournament. The game ended 3-2 to France over Spain.

Runner Up Ralf Anheier; PR Manager EA SPORTS Team: Spain (got some great tips from a pro gamer a few days ago. He told me that Spain is probably the best team in FIFA 10. Actually I don’t know why, but it worked out well). Formation: I always play 4-1-2-1-2 How often do you play: About 1 or 2 hours a day in the peak season. After Xmas less than 1 hour. Favourite game mode: Online. But with FIFA 10 I am currently playing the manager mode as well. Favourite team: TuS Koblenz (I grew up in Koblenz and I’ve played there when I was younger). Why 2nd place? Come on – I lost against a former pro gamer ;-). Claudio was way better than me and he deserved to win. Or was it the beer?! I don’t know.

The Champion Claudio Steffen; Online-Marketing Intern (electronic-arts.de and all the other franchise websites) Team: France (I think they are the entire team when you look over defence, midfield to attack). Formation: I jump around from 4-2-2-2 over 4-4-2 and 3-4-3 – the Final I played with 4-2-2-2. How often do you play: Some years ago it was much more – today I have to work, I am happy to play one game a day. But the last 4 days before the tournament I didn’t play any games! Favourite game mode: Definitely the offline 1-on-1 mode, where only skill is essential – but online 1-on-1 is okay! I love the competition. Favourite team: There is the one and only Borussia – Borussia Dortmund Did you deserve to win the 1st prize? It was quite hard but i think i deserved it, overall. But I have to say, the goal of the 3:2 against Ralf in the finals was a bit lucky. Sorry for that! What are you going to do with the prize? I think I will use it for my farewell party – will be funny!
FIFA Informer thanks to the EA Sports Bar for a fantastic tournament and we can´t wait for the farwell party for Claudio Steffen.
